A thematic seminar was held in a hybrid format as part of the TEAM-EU-UA project

On 24 April 2026, a thematic seminar was held in a hybrid format as part of the project Developing Team Spirit for the Implementation and Integration of European Union Values in Ukraine” (TEAM-EU-UA), co-funded by the European Union.

The target groups for the event were teachers and students of teacher training programmes, who joined forces to work on developing teamwork, leadership skills and fostering an understanding of European values in their professional activities.

One of the key partners of the event was the NGO Ukrainian School Sports Federation, which coordinates the development of school sport in Ukraine and represents the country at international level. During the seminar, the federation’s main areas of activity were presented, including the promotion of physical activity among schoolchildren, the organisation of nationwide sporting events, the introduction of innovative methods of physical education, and the integration of Ukrainian school sport into the European arena.

Partner organisations from Ukraine took an active part in the event, including the project coordinator — the NGO “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORT. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE”, as well as SUMY STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER A. S. MAKARENKO, which presented their own experience and achievements in the field of education and sport.

During the thematic discussions, participants emphasised the importance of integrating European Union values into the educational process, particularly the principles of teamwork, inclusion, equality and mutual respect. A separate key area of focus was the issue of fostering environmental awareness and developing the concept of “green sport”, which entails a responsible attitude towards the environment and the integration of environmental practices into sporting and educational activities.

Particular attention was paid to innovative approaches to physical education, including game-based and team-based formats, cooperative learning, a differentiated approach and the use of digital technologies. Such methods help to increase pupils’ motivation for physical activity, develop leadership qualities and foster effective collaboration skills.

All participants in the thematic seminars received certificates confirming their participation and professional development within the framework of the project.

The second day of the event confirmed the importance of systematic work with teachers and future education professionals in fostering team spirit, developing active citizenship, and integrating European values into the Ukrainian educational landscape.
