TEAM-EU-UA International Training in Kyiv on Team Building and the Integration of EU Values

April 23, 2026, an international training session took place at the Dominanta Lyceum (Kyiv) as part of the project Development of Team Spirit for the Implementation and Incorporation of EU Values in Ukraine” (TEAM-EU-UA), co-funded by the European Union.

The event’s target groups were educators and students who joined forces to work on developing teamwork, leadership skills, and fostering an understanding of European values.

The event began with a formal opening ceremony, during which invited guests and project partners delivered welcoming remarks. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of fostering team spirit, developing leadership among youth, and integrating European values into the Ukrainian educational landscape.

Following the official portion, a vibrant flash mob took place, featuring yellow-and-blue symbols representing the Ukrainian national flag. The students actively joined this initiative, demonstrating unity, patriotism, and team cohesion. The students performed for the participants, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and positive energy. The program continued with a warm-up led by the school’s teaching staff, engaging everyone present in active participation.

The next part of the event was dedicated to sports activities. There were relay races with elements of soccer, master classes in orienteering, and exciting table tennis matches. Before the start of the sports program, all partners, teachers, and students joined in creating a symbolic painting representing the TEAM-EU-UA project. Each participant made their own creative contribution to the shared canvas, which served as an expression of unity, cooperation, and an element of art-therapeutic interaction.

The event was attended by over 80 schoolchildren, as well as teachers, educational staff, project partners, and honored guests. All participants received commemorative awards as part of the project, and the winners of the sports activities received gifts.

Separately, the project coordinator from the NGO “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORTS. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE” presented the TEAM-EU-UA honorary award to the director of the “Dominanta” Lyceum and the deputy director for their fruitful cooperation and support in implementing the international initiative.

The event was organized by the NGO “Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports”, which made significant efforts to ensure high-quality preparation and conduct of the training at a high organizational level.

Project participant Dr. Oleksandr Tomenko, a Doctor of Physical Education and Sports and professor at the A. S. Makarenko Sumy State Pedagogical University MAKARENKO), who emphasized the importance of promoting European values through sports and educational activities.

This training served as an example of how, through sports, creativity, and collaborative activities, one can foster leadership qualities, develop team spirit, and strengthen mutual understanding. The event brought together students and teachers around the ideas of cooperation, mutual respect, equality, and social responsibility. It demonstrated that fostering active citizenship and integrating the values of the European Union are important components of the modern educational process in Ukraine.
